Raw Mango Pachadi (Mangai Pachadi), is one of the traditional and scrumptious pachadi we used to prepare for Tamil New Year's day or for any auspicious occasion during mango season. Raw mango pachadi, is a traditional sweet made on Tamil new year day in our house. Amma makes it quite often during mango season too. During my childhood i have never tasted this raw mango pachadi as i am a big hater of jaggery based sweets.

The ingredients needed to make Raw mango pachidi:
  1. Prepare 1 raw mango (peel the skin and chop into cubes about 250 grams)
  2. Make ready 1/2 onion
  3. Prepare 1/2 tomato
  4. Take 2 green chillies
  5. Make ready 1 red chilli
  6. Prepare 2 garlic flakes, crushed
  7. Make ready Few curry leaves
  8. Prepare 250 gms Jaggery
  9. Prepare as required Mustard for seasoning
  10. Get as required Cooking oil

Add the mango pulp and mix well. Once everything is well mixed, add the jaggery powder and stir again. Your raw mango pachadi is ready! Serve with rice, chapathis, parathas or dosas.

Instructions to make Raw mango pachidi:
  1. Add little water to jaggery and allow to melt, once melts strain with strainer because it has stones and keep aside
  2. Take a pan add oil seasoning it with mustard seeds, then add all the ingredients and keep frying for two minutes then transfer it to pressure cooker and then sprinkle little water with a little salt
  3. Close the lid allow it to for one whistle and switch off the stove
  4. Once the pressure released smashed it well
  5. Then add jaggery syrup to it.
  6. Keep on stirring it in a small burner and it becomes like halwa,then it’s ready to serve.

Your raw mango pachadi is ready! Serve with rice, chapathis, parathas or dosas. This is one of my personal favorites and is the perfect accompaniment to liven up any boring meal. Sweet mangai pachidi - A side dish that is sweet and made with raw mangoes cooked in a jaggery syrup. Mainly made during the tamil puthandu or varsha pirapu.
