Raw mango pachadi, is a traditional sweet made on Tamil new year day. I have already posted a version of Maanga Pachadi, this recipe is just a variation amma makes but wanted to jot down as a separate post and this Tamil New Year is the occasion for it. You can check out other Tamil New Year Recipes and Payasam Recipes that I posted earlier. Mango Pachadi Recipe is an authentic andhra style mamidikaya pachadi made with raw mango.

To begin with this recipe, we have to prepare a few ingredients. You can cook mango pachidi using 12 ingredients and 4 steps. Here is how you can achieve it.

The ingredients needed to make Mango pachidi:
  1. Make ready 2 cup chopped raw mangoes
  2. Make ready 2 tsp red chilli powder
  3. Make ready 1/2 spoon Fenugreek seeds
  4. Make ready 1 spoon mustard seeds
  5. Get 1/2 cup finely chopped onions
  6. Prepare 1 cup powdered Jaggery
  7. Prepare 1/2 spoon neem flower (optional)
  8. Take 3 cup water
  9. Get To taste Salt
  10. Make ready 1/2 spoon asafoetida
  11. Prepare 2 tsp oil
  12. Take 1 string curry leaves

Amma makes it quite often during mango season too. During my childhood i have never tasted this raw mango pachadi as i am a big hater of jaggery based sweets. Put all the mango slices in a heavy bottomed vessel. Add sambar powder, turmeric powder and salt.

Steps to make Mango pachidi:
  1. Melt jaggery in 1 cup of water and filter it to remove any impurities. Keep aside.
  2. Take a pan add oil, once hot add Fenugreek seeds, mustard seeds, and wait untill it crackles. Then add asafoetida, neem flower, curry leaves and onion. cook until translucent.
  3. Add chopped mangoes, haldi, red chilli powder, salt and 2 cups of water. Check if mangoes are half cooked, this is the right time to add Jaggery water. Cook mangoes throughly untill jam consistency. Mango pachidi is ready to serve.
  4. Note: Always make jaggery water before you proceed. You can also add dry red chillies instead of chilli powder. Choose Bangalore mango(kilimuku mango/thothapuri) for this recipe.

Put all the mango slices in a heavy bottomed vessel. Add sambar powder, turmeric powder and salt. Add little water just to cover the mangoes. Cook it in a medium flame till the mango slices are soft. Add jaggery powder. (You can increase or decrease the quantity depends upon the sourness of the mango).
