  2. Take 21/2 cup parboiled rice

  13. Prepare 4-5 curry leaves
  14. Get 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  15. Take 1 tbsp green chillies-ginger paste

  17. Make ready for coconut chutney:
  18. Make ready 1/2 coconut chopped into small pieces
  19. Get 1/4 cup roasted gram
  20. Take 2 green chillies chopped
  21. Take 1/2" ginger chopped

Benne dosa, a very popular breakfast saturated with generous butter and cooked to perfect crisp texture. It is served with unique coconut chutney and potato masala. The texture of the dosa is something so different. Its crisp on one side and so spongy on the other.

Instructions to make Benne Dosa:
  1. Wash separately white whole urad with fenugreek seeds and parboiled rice 4-5 times in water. Soak them separately for 4 hours. Wash poha in water.
  2. Grind urad first,then add soak rice and poha in wet grinder to soft batter. Now add rice flour and salt, again grind or mix in with spoon.
  3. Keep aside in warm place to ferment for 6-8 hours.
  4. To prepare potato bhaji.Cook potatoes in pressure cooker. Peel and mash them. In kadhai add heat oil,add mustard seeds as it splutter, add curry leaves and turmeric powder, green chillies ginger paste and chopped onion. Saute for few minutes. Add mashed potatoes mixture,salt. Mix well. Keep aside.
  5. To prepare coconut chutney.In mixer grinder jar add green chillies ginger pieces, roasted gram,grind it,then add chopped coconut pieces, curry leaves,salt and again grind. Add milk or water to make smooth paste.
  6. Heat non stick Dosa tawa. Smear 1 tsp oil on it. Wipe with wet cloth. Take a small cup of batter,spread on heated tawa thinly. Sprinkle melted butter on it. As it turn golden brown from downward,flip and cook for 1 min. Flip again and fold.
  7. Serve Hot Benne Dosa with potato bhaji and coconut chutney.
