Moong Dal (skinned split mung gram) is amongst one of the most commonly used lentils in India. You can also add a few drops of oil to reduce the frothing. Method for making Moong Dal Recipe ~ Jain Style Add a cup of water, turmeric powder and washed moong dal in a stainless steel vessel and cook till the dal turns soft.   1. First grind the soaked moong dal and make a smooth paste out of it.
  2. Mix half of the paste with buttermilk add salt and turmeric powder. Mix well.
  3. Now put this batter on flame. Stirring continuously until it starts to boil.
  4. Once it starts boiling turn the flame to medium and let it cook for 25 to 30 minutes uncovered. It will turn aromat when ready.
  5. Meanwhile we will fry pakodas out of the remaining moong dal paste adding in some salt to taste.
  6. Add the pakodas to kadhi.
  7. Final step is tempering (tadka)
  8. Heat some oil in a wok…add asafoetida and mustard seeds let them splatter.
  9. Then add soaked and strained fenugreek seeds along with curry leaves and red chillies.
  10. Immediately add red chilli powder and put this tadka on kadhi.
  11. Mix well.. keep covered for 5 mins then garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
