Curd rice also known as thayir saddam & daddojanam makes a great summer food. It is eaten with a podi, papad, pickle & even topped with some pomegranate arils or raw cucumber & onions.

  2. Get 3/4 cup curd
  3. Prepare 1/4 cup milk

  14. Prepare as needed Grapes
  15. Make ready 5 to 6 Fried cashews
  16. Prepare 1/2 cup Grated carrots
  17. Take 1 Chopped cucumber
  18. Take 1" Fresh ginger

Add salt and sugar and keep aside. Curd rice is a popular and tasty South Indian dish that is served with a South Indian thali or meal. Curd rice is nothing but curd (yogurt) mixed with cooked rice, herbs and then tempered. Curd rice is also known as thayir sadam or daddojanam or bagala bath in some South Indian languages.

Instructions to make Curd Rice:
  1. In a bowl, put cooked rice, curd, milk and salt and mix well. Put it in the refrigerator to cool.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. When they begin to splutter, add urad and chana dal and fry until golden.
  3. Add chopped green chilli, asafoetida and curry leaves. Remove from heat and put the tempering prepared to the curd and rice mixture.
  4. Mix well and serve cold.
  5. You may garnish it with pomegranate seeds, fried nuts, grapes.
