The batter should be thicker than our idly dosa batter. Heat the tawa and spread little oil and spread one laddle full of batter as thick adais,make a small hole in the middle and again pour little oil around. Adai is a lentil crepe, very similar to Dosa but highly nutritious. It belongs to the South Indian Cuisine and is a popular breakfast followed by IDLI, DOSA AND UTTAPAM.

Steps to make Onion Adai Dosa:
  1. Wash & soak rice and all daals separately for 5-6 hours. Grind in mixer to make smooth batter. Ferment over night.
  2. In small tadka pan add,heat oil. Add mustard seeds,as they splutter add curry leaves and asafoetida. Add this tempering to fermented adai batter. Add salt and finely chopped fresh coriander leaves. Add finely chopped onion and mix well.
  3. Heat nonstick dosa tawa, sprinkle oil and wipe with tissue paper. Take laddle full (big spoon) of adai batter pour in center,spread in circular motion to make semi-thick dosa.(as shown). Sprinkle oil on it. As it turns golden brown and crispy,flip over and cook on other side also similarly. Prepare all onion Adai dosas similarly.
  4. Serve/ Relish Nutritious Hot Onion Adai Dosa with coconut chutney and hot coffee.
