The ingredients needed to make Curd rice:
  1. Prepare 1 &1/2 cup over cooked rice
  2. Make ready 1 1/2 cup curd thick
  3. Get For tempering
  4. Get 1 tsp oil
  5. Prepare 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  6. Prepare 1/4 tsp cumin seeds
  7. Take 1/4 tsp hing / asafoetida
  8. Make ready 7-8 curry leaves
  9. Get 1 big whole red chilli
  10. Get 1 green chilli chopped
  11. Take 1 tsp udad daal / black gram
  12. Get 1 tsp chana dal / bengal gram
  13. Take to taste Salt

Add salt and sugar and keep aside. Curd rice is a popular and tasty South Indian dish that is served with a South Indian thali or meal. Curd rice is nothing but curd (yogurt) mixed with cooked rice, herbs and then tempered. Curd rice is also known as thayir sadam or daddojanam or bagala bath in some South Indian languages.

Instructions to make Curd rice:
  1. Mix cooked rice and curd. And keep aside.
  2. Heat oil into Tadka pan and let it heat very hot, then add mustard seeds, turn off the heat, and wait for a min. Then add cumin seeds, red chilli chopped/ pieces, hing, curry leaves and both daal. Mix well and wait for a while. Then add green chilli and mix well.
  3. Add this tampered masala to mixture of cooked rice and curd. Mix well and add salt as require. And mix well again.
  4. Serve with salad. Or keep in fridge and serve cold while needed.
