  2. Make ready 1/2 -cup Yellow lentil
  3. Get 1 tbsp Tamarind -lemon sized

  6. Make ready 2 tbsp Sambhar powder
  7. Get 1 tsp Turmeric powder

Arhar, Urad Dal or Toor Dal are some of the common lentils that are cooked in Indian homes. firstly, adding onions along with radish will reduce the smell of radish in the sambar. also, adding coconut masala paste is optional, you can prepare with just adding sambar powder. additionally, chop or slice the radish to the size of your choice. finally, mullangi sambar / radish sambar taste great when prepared with coconut. Instruction for making radish or moolangi sambar: Clean, wash and chop all the vegetables like radish, onion and tomato.

Instructions to make Radish sambhar:
  1. Cut radish to small pieces.
  2. Rinse tuvar dal.
  3. Now add 1 cup water to rinsed yellow lentil,add chopped radish and turmeric to it.
  4. Pressure cook it for 3-4 whistles till the dal is well cooked.
  5. When dal and radish are cooked add tamarind water to it and let sambhar mixture boil for sometime.
  6. Then add sambhar powder and salt to taste.Let them boil for more minutes.
  7. Grind coconut and tomatoes together.Make a fine paste.
  8. Add this paste to boiling sambhar.Boil for five more minutes.
  9. Sambhar is ready.
  10. Now for tempering.Heat 1 tsp of oil.
  11. Add mustard seeds, a pinch of asafoetida and curry leaves.
  12. Pour this tempering on ready sambhar.
  13. Radish Sambhar is ready.Serve it hot with idli,dosa,upma or rice.
