Even when we go on holiday the first thing I want to eat when we get back is some steaming hot rice with some dal. Before the era of refrigeration began, Meat was preserved by salting and drying it thoroughly.

To begin with this particular recipe, we have to first prepare a few ingredients. You can cook parippum cheerayum using 12 ingredients and 6 steps. Here is how you cook it.

The ingredients needed to make Parippum Cheerayum:
  1. Prepare 1/2 cup toor dal
  2. Prepare 1 cup palak cheera / chopped
  3. Get 1/2 cup coconut coconut grated
  4. Make ready 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  5. Make ready 1 tsp kashmiri chili powder
  6. Take 1/8 tsp jeera
  7. Take 1 nos tomato sliced
  8. Prepare 2 tsps oil
  9. Make ready 1 tsp mustard seeds
  10. Take 1/4 tsp jeera
  11. Take 2 nos red chilli dry (halved)
  12. Prepare 3 sprigs curry leaves

Instructions to make Parippum Cheerayum:
  1. Pressure cook  dal with turmeric powder for 4-5 whistles
  2. Add chopped cheera /palak along with sliced tomato,kashmiri chilli powder and cook for 3-4 mins.
  3. Make a smooth paste of grated coconut and jeera. Add this to the cooked dal and cheera mixture. Add 1/4 cup of  boiled water if the curry is very thick. You can add salt as per your taste at this stage.
  4. When it starts boiling switch off the stove.
  5. Heat oil in a pan,splutter mustard seeds, when it crackles add dry red chilies, curry leaves and jeera. Pour the seasoning over the curry.
  6. Serve hot with rice/roti.
