  1. Take 1/4 cup toor dal
  2. Get 1/4 cup moong dal
  3. Take 1 Chilli

  9. Prepare 1 tbsp tamarind puree

Idli Sambar aka Tiffin Sambar is a recipe from my Mom in law. This is a no-dal recipe and it is so easy to make. Idli Sambar is a complete food in itself as it contains all the essential nutrients, minerals and vitamins that are essential for your overall health. Different vegetables like beans, carrot, drumstick, etc. present in the sambar provide enough fiber that aides your digestive health.

Steps to make Sambar Idli:
  1. Chop tomatoes, green chillies and onions.
  2. Wash the toor dal, moong dal and add it to the cooker.
  3. Now add chopped green chillies and tomatoes.
  4. Then Add turmeric powder, hing, salt and water as needed and cook for two whistles.
  5. Once it is cooked, heat the oil in a pan. Add mustard, cumin and curry leaves.
  6. Then add chopped onions and saute well.
  7. Once the onion is sauted well, add the tamarind puree and jaggery and stir well. Then add the sambar powder and bring to a boil.
  8. Pour the boiled lentils into the pan and cook for 5 minutes in a medium heat.
  9. Place the idli in a serving vessel, pour the sambar on it and serve hot.
