Idli sambar recipe made with dal, quick cook veggies, spices and herbs. This is my version of the quick tiffin sambar that goes good with most South Indian breakfasts. You can serve this flavorful & delicious tiffin sambar with Soft idli, Instant Rava idli, medu vada, khara pongal, Crispy dosa, masala dosa and most other tiffins. Idli sambar is a tasty & delicious hotel style tiffin sambar that is served with idli.

Idli sambhar is one of the most popular of recent trending foods on earth. It is appreciated by millions daily. It is simple, it is quick, it tastes delicious. They are nice and they look wonderful. Idli sambhar is something which I have loved my entire life.

To begin with this particular recipe, we have to first prepare a few ingredients. You can have idli sambhar using 15 ingredients and 6 steps. Here is how you cook that.

The ingredients needed to make Idli sambhar:
  1. Take 2 cup Idli rice
  2. Take 1/2 cup Urad dal
  3. Prepare 1/4 cup Poha
  4. Get to taste Salt
  5. Take For sambhar
  6. Get 1/2 cup Arhar dal
  7. Prepare 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  8. Get to taste Salt
  9. Take 2 tsp Oil
  10. Take 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
  11. Prepare 10-12 Curry leaves
  12. Get 1 Tomato chopped
  13. Prepare 2 tsp Sambhar masala
  14. Get 1 Brinjal chopped
  15. Take 2 tsp Tamarind pulp

Step by step photos: Firstly prepare sambar powder by roasting all the spices required and then grinding them into fine powder. Heat oil in a wok and add mustard seeds. Once they start spluttering add curry leaves,dry red chillies,asafoetida and garlic cloves. Fry well and add roughly chopped shallots.

Instructions to make Idli sambhar:
  1. Wash and soak rice poha and urd dal separately for 4-5
  2. Drain and blend in a blender together with salt and poha till smooth. - Transfer the batter in a big vessel and cover and keep to ferment for 6-8 hours.
  3. Grease the idli molds and pour the batter in each mold. - Steam the idlies for 15-20 minutes, till done.
  4. #For_Sambhar…………….Wash the dal. - Add it in a pressure cooker with salt and turmeric powder. - Cook till done.
  5. Add oil in a pan. - When the oil is hot, add mustard seeds and curry leaves. - Add onion and fry for 2 minutes. - Add tomatoes, brinjal, and sambhar masala. - Add half a cup of water and cook till brinjal is soft.
  6. Add the cooked dal and tamarind pulp. - Cook for another 4-5 minutes.

Once they start spluttering add curry leaves,dry red chillies,asafoetida and garlic cloves. Fry well and add roughly chopped shallots. Idli Sambar are a typical South Indian breakfast that has become popular across the globe for it's soft spongy Idlis and lipsmackingly delicious Sambar. The Idlis are savory rice cakes that are steamed using fermented lentil and rice batter. Sambar is the tangy spicy vegetable lentil soup in which the Idli's are dunk.
