  1. Make ready 500 gms chicken
  2. Get 2 onions
  3. Prepare 1 cup chopped coconut
  4. Make ready 2 tbsp oil
  5. Take 1 cup curry leaves
  6. Take 1 cup water
  7. Take For Masala
  8. Take 1 cup Red Chillies
  9. Get 1/2 cup Coriander seeds
  10. Get 1/4 cup Pepper
  11. Prepare 1 tsp Jeera
  12. Make ready 1/2 tsp cloves
  13. Take 1/4 cup kasuri methi
  14. Make ready 1 tbsp ginger pieces
  15. Make ready 1 tbsp garlic pieces

Mix well and keep it aside. Heat up gheen in a cooker. You can use dalda, vanaspati, butter or ghee instead of ghee. Masala for chicken is all ready.

Instructions to make Marathi Masala Chicken:
  1. Fry Red Chillies,coriander,pepper and jeera for two mins
  2. Add kasuri methi, cloves and fry for two mins
  3. Grind the above ingredients with 1tbsp of ginger and garlic each
  4. Wash and clean chicken. Add Salt and mix well
  5. Add the grounded mixture too to the chicken. mix well.
  6. Let the chicken marinate for 30mins to 1hr
  7. Slice two onions and coconut too.. take one cup of coconut pieces and sliced onions.
  8. Heat 1tsp of oil and sautee onion slices for two to three mins
  9. Add coconut pieces and saute for three to four minutes
  10. Grind sauteed onion and coconut to a smooth paste by adding little water
  11. Heat 2tsp oil in a pan and put curry leaves in it… once they start cracking, add chicken and mix well. Let it sautee for 5 to 8 mins
  12. Add onion and coconut paste to this chicken. Mix well.
  13. Cook the chicken by adding water.
  14. Keep a lid on and let all the water evaporate. Marathi masala chicken is ready to serve. Garnish with onion.
  15. This can be served with Rice and Roti too.

You can use dalda, vanaspati, butter or ghee instead of ghee. Masala for chicken is all ready. Heat up oil in a pan. Add onion and fry until it gets light golden color. Chicken masala is incredibly rich without being too heavy.
